David Morton has been appointed by the Church of Scotland, working in partnership with the Church of Cental African Presbyterian (CCAP), to work at Nkhoma Hospital in Malawi. Both David and Rebecca come from missionary and Scottish heritage and have previously worked in Uganda and Malawi.
They left Uganda in 1998 (after more than 13 years) and returned to Seattle for their sons to finish high school and university. In the autumn of 2008 David and Rebecca spent three months in Malawi working with an HIV and Aids program, Partners in Hope, part of the national Aids control program of Malawi. There they re-established ties with friends at Nkhoma Hospital and the Nkhoma Synod of the CCAP. They were urged to consider coming to work at Nkhoma Hospital as another doctor is greatly needed there. David’s roles in Malawi will be helping to staff Nkhoma Hospital with an emphasis on medicine and pediatrics, helping to supervise the primary health care and HIV and Aids programs, finance and administration, and mentoring national medical staff. Rebecca’s roles will be to keep David sane, establish a warm, hospitable home, work with AIDS orphans, help with chaplaincy care – and singing and praying!
David’s loves and joys are the Lord, Rebecca, family, working with those in need, Africa, theology, music, books, and until a knee injury, basketball. Rebecca’s loves are the Lord, David, family, Africa, reading, sewing, babies and all children. They have two grown-up sons, Philip and Sam.
Please pray that we will be prepared for the spiritual, emotional and physical challenges, that Christ will be glorified and that his kingdom of love and mercy expand through all we do.

DEar David and Rebecca

Hi David and Rebecca! I am teaching sewing classes at my church, and we really want to do some mission work while people learn to sew. We were wondering if you have any specific sewing needs at your hospital, such as pillowcases, bandages, dresses, gowns, or any other simple sewing projects. Please let me know- we would love to help in any way we can.
Miss you guys!
Kate Johnson (Nudelman)

Hello! I visited Nkhoma hospital in February. It was a pleasure to see your work and be introduced to a few of your staff members.
If I were to post copies of photographs for a staff member of yours, what address might I use for the hospital?
Thank you!
The hospital mailing address is Nkhoma Hospital, Box 48, Nkhoma Malawi. I can not vouch for its reliability though! But we do seem to get mail, so address it to me and give instructions as to who should get the photos. David
With you in prayer just now – from the folk at Belhelvie Church of Scotland.
Hi Dr. Morton,
Surprise surprise … I saw Dr. Hashisaki and found out he’d been there with you for a while .. small world.
I would like to donate some funds and just want to be sure I send them to the right place.. it’ll probably be a few weeks on my next paycheck.
Anyway … I was happy to have you as my physician in Bellevue WA for 4 yrs or so and miss you but admire you and Rebecca’s sacrifices and devotions.
God bless you. Malia S.
Dear Becky and David,
we would like to send you a Christmas letter and ask, if you could send us your mail address. We hope you are fine ! God bless you.
We would be so glad to hear from you.
Lots of greetings
Michael + Manuela

Wondering about needs in Malawi for treatment of menorrhagia and anemia in women. We have many expired ablation devices and mirena iud’s , clinical expertise, and a way to transport. Do you need any gyn services? Thanks David and blessings to you and Rebecca. Betsy Evans
Hi there!
I am fourth year Edinburgh medical student and have been trying to get in touch with Nkhoma for a few months now with a view to come and spend some of my elective with them in late September and October 2012. All of the email addresses I have found for them have unfortunately been invalid and bounced back, and I was hoping that you might know of another email address or other means of contacting the person in charge of student electives. I would be very grateful for any help you can give me!
